Basic principle of the installation is collection and consequent combining of video-shot of unknown people address in the streets of the city. Within three months the author collected about 60 samples. Addressed people were asked to express briefly his personal message that he would like pass on to the public. The speeches were then adapted in post-production. The duration of each speech was cut down to 1 minute, most significant for each of the addressed people. The audio and video of selected speeches was then moved onto common background. This created a new digital picture in which many overlaying audio footages create a totally new message. The words of the original speeches loose their former integrity and bring out new context. The noise is becoming louder and the moment of overall chaos is becoming the new meaning. But the depiction of chaos in communication and loss of meaningful expression is not the main point of this project. All the production of mass media devalues itself all the time and compared to this it would be like the proverbial bringing of owl to Athens. Severová on the contrary aims to focus on the situation and tries to see, if this situation still could not possibly bring out an original message and if it still could not have the potential to address somebody. text by: Milan Salák
